Recruitment and Application Calendar
The McDermott Scholars application has two deadlines this year "Priority" and "Regular." Be sure to read below for these important dates.
Fall 2012
The Eugene McDermott Scholars Program Staff will recruit and visit high schools. Applicants will fill out the online application and request the required letters of recommendation. Applicants must complete the separate application for admission to The University of Texas at Dallas.
November 6, 2012 - "Priority" Applicant Deadline
For the November 6 deadline, applicants will only need to provide their high school counselor's information in the online Recommendation Provider list. "Priority" Counselor's deadline is also November 6. Please send a high school transcript to the McDermott Scholars Program office (in addition to any transcript sent to UT Dallas).
By November 13, 2012 - Notification to Semifinalists ("Priority" Applicants only)
The Selection Committee will look at submitted application and the counselor's recommendation to decide who is a Semifinalist. If named a Semifinalist, applicants will need to identify three additional recommenders and request their letters through the online system.
December 3, 2012 - Recommendations Deadline for Semifinalists ("Priority" Applicants only)
The three additional recommendations are due for Semifinalists.
January 6, 2013 - "Regular" Applicant Deadline
Students must submit and complete all parts of the online application and all 4 recommendations must be submitted as well. Send a high school transcript to the McDermott Scholars Program office before winter break (in addition to any transcript sent to UT Dallas). You will also need to apply to UT Dallas.
By January 22, 2013 - Notification to Finalists
If named a finalist, you will be asked to attend Finalists’ Weekend at UT Dallas. Attendance is required if you wish to be considered for the McDermott Scholarship Program. RSVP by January 24, 2013, for Finalists' Weekend .
February 22-24, 2013 - Finalists' Weekend
Attendance is mandatory at Finalists' Weekend for further consideration.
March - April 2013
The McDermott Scholars Program Director begins contacting finalists to make offers to join the McDermott Scholars Program.
Late Spring 2013
Announcement of the class of scholars that will begin at UTD in fall 2013.
